Digital Project Manager
My name is Alex and my role at SEO Premier is Digital Project Manager, which means my days generally include project management, working with clients and their teams, website development and design, implementing new features, code programming and everything in between.
What’s your morning ritual to set you up for a productive day?
I think it’s important to achieve something at the very start of the day. Everyone struggles to jump out of bed every now and again as the idea of stealing an extra 5 minutes of sleep is always appealing but that just starts a procrastination cycle that lasts the whole day.
If I can resist the morning struggle I will get up to make my bed. Even though it is only a small achievement, I get that feeling of accomplishment. All it takes is 30 seconds of pain to get up and make my bed, then the rest of the day falls into place.
Your favourite thing about your job is…
The best part about my job is my colleagues, hands down. There is not a single person I wouldn’t enjoy hanging out with. Everyone gets along so well and it’s always a pleasure to work alongside such a talented bunch. I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by a fantastic group of people which makes me want to be equally as great as them, keeping me motivated day in and day out.
Where do you want to be in five years?
If you asked me a couple of years ago I would’ve had an answer in a heartbeat, but now that is a lot harder of a question. Work wise I can’t even imagine where I could be as things move so quickly. As for what I’ll be doing I can’t answer as even some of the more over the top responses have become seemingly possible. If I had to pick something, maybe a nice big office, a team of developers working with me and a nice comfortable house where I can unwind at the end of the day.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a killer week at work?
Nothing is more enjoyable than a bacon and egg roll at 6am on a cool Sunday morning, standing around 1st Tee at one of the nearby golf courses. I get an odd sense of freedom on the golf course – like I have somehow discovered an extra day hidden in the weekend as if the world is completely oblivious to the 4 hours spent with my mates.
How did you get to where you are now at SEO Premier?
I met Joe through soccer one year and we quickly became mates. It was one of those elusive ‘right place at the right time’ type of stories where I asked him, almost in passing if he needed a web developer. We quickly set up an interview and in what felt like no time at all I was working at SEO Premier.
If you could have any other job what would it be?
Machine Learning specialist.
Being the tech guy, I have always had an interest about the future and what it will be like. The past few years I have become very interested in the concept of machine learning. The idea of creating something that learns to do a tasks even better than humans both scares and excites me. It will be super exciting to see what the next 10 years will bring as this field develops further into the future.
